CMA, in partnership with independent executive search firm Buffkin Baker, has opened applications in search for CMA’s next Chief Executive Officer. In January, it was announced that current CEO Sarah Trahern would retire at the end of 2026, marking the conclusion of an extraordinary tenure leading one of the most influential organizations in the Country Music industry. Under the leadership of a search committee newly formed by CMA’s Board of Directors, Buffkin Baker will begin reviewing all applicants’ resumes and is available to answer any questions about the position at [email protected]. All applications will be treated with complete discretion and kept in strict confidence during the search process.
CMA’s CEO is responsible for making organizational decisions, managing overall operations and working with the Board of Directors to establish the organization’s strategic direction. The CEO should exhibit tenacity, engagement and passion for furthering CMA’s mission to heighten the awareness of Country Music and support its on-going growth, both domestically and internationally. They also serve as the public face of the organization and represent CMA in the community. This position is based in Nashville, TN.

Trahern will remain fully engaged in her role as CEO until the end of 2026, working closely with the Board and senior leadership to guide CMA into its next era and ensure a smooth transition of leadership.
